As a Senior L3 VMware Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and improving a large-scale private cloud environment. You will act as the technical escalation point for L1/L2 support teams, resolve complex incidents, and execute both standard and non-standard changes. This role requires deep VMware expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to operate in a high‑availability, security‑sensitive environment.
Provide L3 support for L1/L2 Service Desk teams.
Handle complex incidents, standard changes, and problem management at L3 level.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in large VMware private cloud environments with HA and DR.
Prepare and execute non-standard changes, including:
Creating runbooks
Participating in CAB meetings
Executing approved changes
Perform production plan activities such as:
Remediating vulnerabilities identified by vulnerability management
Executing or supervising monthly patch cycles
Manage lifecycle management (LCM) activities, including:
Software, firmware, and patch releases
Platform and hardware upgrades
Must be eligible for and pass AIVD screening (Dutch homeland security).
Must reside in the Netherlands.
Must speak, read, and write fluent Dutch.
Minimum 2 years of experience as an L3 engineer in similar environments (large Dell/VMware private cloud with HA/DR).
Strong team player who can also work independently.
Excellent communication skills with both internal teams and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills in complex environments.
Flexible mindset; willing to work outside standard office hours for customer-impacting changes.
Ability to create, read, and update technical documentation.
Takes a visible and leading role in developing and promoting technical specialisms.
Experience working in DevOps teams.
Experience with Agile/Scrum product teams.
VCP certification (vSphere 6.x and/or 7.x).
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a large VMware cloud environment:
10+ vCenters
500+ physical servers
Hands-on experience with:
vSAN
vSAN ReadyNodes and/or VxRail
Understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and their differences.
Knowledge of either:
Windows Server, or
Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
VCAP certification.
vRealize Automation & Orchestration (vRA/vRO 7 or 8).
NSX‑V or NSX‑T.
Ansible Tower.
