Applications Engineer – Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS)

Your New Career

As a hands-on Applications Engineer, you will be part of a global team responsible for the field and technical support of Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) solutions.

Using fiber optic cables as continuous sensors, we combine advanced photonics sensing technology and machine learning to deliver reliable real-time insights along pipelines, power cables, railway lines, and other critical infrastructure assets. In this role, you will play a key part in customer deployments across North and South America.

Location

This is a remote, home-office-based position with flexible working hours. Approximately 60% of your time will involve travel to customer sites and project locations throughout the Americas.

Responsibilities

As an Applications Engineer, you will:

  • Manage fiber optic sensing projects from initiation through deployment.
  • Conduct site surveys and system configuration activities.
  • Support network integration and customer acceptance testing.
  • Deliver customer training and handover activities.
  • Provide ongoing operational and technical support.
  • Assist sales teams and channel partners in evaluating project requirements.
  • Develop tailored technical solutions to meet customer needs.

Profile

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of fiber optic technologies.
  • Experience with 2D drawing/design tools.
  • Strong computer networking knowledge, including architecture and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with SCADA interfaces such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 104, or similar protocols.
  • Experience in fiber optics, instrumentation, control systems, or related industries.
  • Fiber optic test and measurement experience is advantageous.

Experience & Languages

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Portuguese language skills are advantageous.
